Georgia Thomas-Diaz, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and trauma certified, has been with Boston Health for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) since 2002. From 2017-2021, Georgia served as the Director of BHCHP’s Family Team, which cares for women, children, and unaccompanied teens who are experiencing homelessness in the Greater Boston area. In 2021 Georgia transitioned to being the Respite Behavioral Health Director at the Barbara McInnis House.
In 2002, Georgia joined BHCHP as a case manager on their HIV Team, becoming the Director of the HIV/STD/Hepatitis C prevention program for 12 years. She then worked as a mental health clinician/addiction counselor on the Office-Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) team to address the needs of individuals who are struggling with opioid use disorders. As the Director of the Family Team, Georgia worked closely with BHCHP’s shelter partners and other healthcare and housing agencies in the Greater Boston area to address the complicated needs of families and unaccompanied youth who are experiencing homelessness.
Georgia graduated from Cambridge College with a degree in Human Services and a master’s degree in Mental Health/Addiction and Trauma.
