Katherine Koh
Psychiatrist, Street Team
Katherine Koh, MD MSc is a practicing psychiatrist at the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program and Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. As a street psychiatrist, she focuses her clinical care on patients who live unsheltered through street outreach, clinic sessions, and home visits to patients once they are housed.
Dr. Koh’s research focuses on homelessness and mental illness, funded by a K23 award from the National Institute of Mental Health. Her work has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, JAMA Psychiatry, and JAMA Internal Medicine among other outlets. She is core faculty for the Mind, Brain, and Behavior course at Harvard Medical School and teaches regularly about improving systems of care for underserved patients. She is co-Chair of the Massachusetts Psychiatry Society Disaster Readiness Committee and serves on the American Psychiatric Association Disaster Psychiatry Committee. She has received the Early Career Psychiatrist Award from the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, the Harvard Medical School Dean’s Community Service Award, and the Jonathan F. Borus Outstanding Early Career Educator Award from Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Koh is a graduate of the MGH/McLean Psychiatry Residency Program, where she served as MGH Chief Resident and Community Psychiatry Chief Resident. Dr. Koh earned her M.D. from Harvard Medical School, a Master of Science in Evidence-Based Social Intervention from Oxford University with Distinction, and her B.A. from Harvard College, Magna Cum Laude with Highest Honors in Psychology.
