Behavioral Health Services

A very high percentage of BHCHP's adult patients suffer from mental illness. In 1994, BHCHP formed a special team to address their needs.

Today, this highly accomplished team includes psychiatrists, a psychologist, clinical social workers and behavioral health counselors.

Core services include:

  • Individual and group counseling
  • Child and family therapy
  • Medication management
  • Referrals to detoxification and rehabilitation programs

The Behavioral Health Team works with patients at our clinics, our medical respite facility and at family shelters throughout the community. One social worker even visits our Racetrack Clinic at Suffolk Downs to provide counseling to homeless and indigent workers.

The Behavioral Health Team is also a training site for future mental health professionals. Each year, the team providers year-long clinical placements to students of mental health counseling as well as 3rd and 4th year psychiatry residents.
