Dental Services

It can be difficult for homeless individuals to access dental care. Not surprisingly, untreated dental conditions are a huge problem for many homeless men and women.

According to a recent survey done at two of BHCHP's busiest clinics, patients averaged 8 years since their last dental visit. A full 40% were experiencing dental pain at the time of the survey.

Since 1985, BHCHP has been committed to providing Boston's homeless men and women with oral health care. Currently, BHCHP provides comprehensive dental services - including fillings, bridges, crowns, dentures, and oral surgery — at two sites:

  • Jean Yawkey Place
  • Pine Street Inn

BHCHP is currently focusing on improving integration between our medical and dental services so that care is better coordinated for patients in need.  This effort is specifically targeted to help those with chronic diseases-such as HIV or diabetes-which increase their need for comprehensive oral health care.
