"Medical respite care" is the name given to short-term medical and recuperative services for
homeless people far too ill for life in shelters but not sick enough to warrant a hospital stay.
With the ability to serve 104 patients on any given day, this facility provides a safe community-based alternative to costly inpatient care. Because no other organization in the state offers similar services, the Barbara McInnis House, now located at Jean Yawkey Place, regularly operates at capacity.
